On the Mats: One Page Marketing Plan
Hi all! Who would love a really really simple marketing plan that really works every single time? Guys, I’m just about to show you how. Come and join us…
Hi guys, Nathan McDonald for another ‘On the Mats’ episode, and today I’m going to teach you how to do a 1-page simple marketing plan. And it is that simple, guys, and I’m going to show you the 3 steps to be able to do it. Now, to do this, what I’m going to actually draw on a whiteboard, so looking forward to seeing you with that drawing. Talk to you in a second…
Well, let’s have a really quick look at a marketing plan. We want to keep this very simple, very easy for business owners to understand, and make it very productive for you and your business.
So, quite simply, what we want to do is break it down into 3 main areas.
What are you selling
And the first thing is, at the bottom here we want to actually make the sale, ok? What are you actually selling? What product are you selling? What service are you selling? If you’ve got 5 different products, they might all have 5 different marketing plans. We want to really have a look at what we’re actually selling; this is the end result.
How are you selling
The next thing that we want to actually have a look at is the knowledge. Sales is all about knowledge these days; people can get so much knowledge. So, how is the person going to get knowledge regarding this product? For instance, do they come to a website? Do they actually drill down and look at a website? Do you actually show your knowledge about the product on a website – people can go and search it on smartphones these days – or, do you have a salesperson? So you might actually have a sales rep, a business development manager, or some other way to actually let them know about this product. So your website might sell the product directly, or the website might sell an appointment to the salesperson and then they’re going to sell the product. So you’ve got to have a look at that medium: what is it? What is that medium that’s going to help sell the product?
Where are your clients
Now, the next one with your marketing plan – this is probably where we want to have a look at: what lead generation tools? How do the people get to where they need to get to? So this is the lead generation tool here. And reality is, you might have, for instance, search engine optimization happening to actually optimize some people to find your website. You might have social media happening. You might have brochures happening. So, reality is, you might have brochures in the sales to book an appointment with a sales rep to phone. Or you might have the social media set to have a phone. Or what other types of plan or lead generation tools can you use? There’s so many out there, guys, that you can use: there’s telemarketing, there’s Yellow Pages, there’s so many lead generation tools. But this is about building a marketing plan for you to make life easy. And what you want to do is implement one of these structures fully for one. So, if you’re going to go search engine optimization, make sure that’s operational; make sure your website has got some good traffic landing in it, then make sure your product is able to be easily sold. And you can set up a nice little basic marketing plan to make life really easy for you.
So guys, that’s a marketing plan in under 5 minutes for this ‘On the Mats’ episode.
