On the Mats: Business Services Menu
Do your customers or prospects know exactly what you can do for them? Come and find out and we’ll show you how easy it is to tell…
Hi all! Nathan McDonald here for another On the Mats episode, and today we’re going to talk about letting your customers know exactly what you do – or your prospects, and let them know what you can do for them. It’s really interesting: if I went and asked one of your customers right now all of the services or the products that you could provide them, I will guarantee that the majority of them would actually say no – they wouldn’t have a clue – ‘Yeah, I only get this service off you and that’s it.’ Well, reality is, your customer base – or your prospect base – really need to have a look at what you actually can offer them.
And it’s really interesting: you know, I was at a workshop last week, and one of the guest speakers at my workshop reminded everyone of the importance of having a business menu. What is a business menu? Well, quite simply – you think about it – when you walk into a restaurant the first thing you go is, ‘Right, here’s everything on the menu. This is what you can actually order.’ Do you have that for your business? Is that shown on your website? Is that literally given to them when a prospect actually gets a quote or when you actually talk to a customer? Do you leave them something to say, ‘This is everything that we can provide for you’?
I’m going to put my hand up here because I’m human; I’m also a business owner as well, just like yourself, and I haven’t done that for ages. And it was a really big impact on me on Friday when one of my customers was sitting next to one of my prospects and my prospect turned around and said, ‘Oh, but you’re just systems; I’ve heard Nathan only does systems.’ Well, no, I look after business owners; I make sure I get their business where they need to get to, whether it’s marketing, sales systems, teamwork – it doesn’t really matter. So that was a good kick in the pants for me to say, ‘Hey, I’m not communicating.’ So what I’ve done is I’ve actually added my business menu here to this YouTube video or to this video and blog so that you guys can see what you can do for your business as well.
So now it’s time to let your prospects or customers know everything that you can provide them because there would be so much in extra sales there just for you if only they knew.
