On the Mats: Is Your Ego Stopping You From Growing Your Business?
Could your ego be stopping you from growing your business? Is this too much of a controversial topic? Guys, stay tuned and let’s find out.
Hi all, Nathan McDonald with another ‘On the Mats’ episode. Guys, today we’re going to talk about ego, and some people don’t like admitting they’ve got some but reality is it can stop you from affecting your business.
Now, let me tell you why…
Here in Australia I know that a lot of people – when they get sick – they don’t go to the doctors. ‘I’m tough, Grrrrr! We don’t need to go to the doctor’s when we’re sick. We’ll just weigh it all out.’ But when you look at that, let’s have a look at your business. What happens when your business is sick? ‘Well, I don’t need anyone to help me. I don’t want to take any advice. It’s ok; I’ll sort it out. I’m big and tough; we’ll get it there.’ But that can really be a big detriment for your business. Why is that? Well, you don’t know what you don’t know. So, what you’ve got to do is really when you feel that your business is sick or you’re getting challenged, you need those people around to help you actually grow your business or to help you with those problems and challenges. What happens if you’ve got team problems? Who can you turn to? What happens when you need something done? Well, you need those people around you to help you, and this is why ego can really stop you growing your business. Because ‘It’s ok, I’m big and tough’, ‘I can let them do that’, and ‘I’ll sort it out and I’ll work with it’ – the next thing you know, you end up digging yourself your own grave because you are running around trying to do so much because your ego gets in the way.
So guys, you do need to get rid of your ego, you do need to be aware that there are challenges in your business, and you do need to find the right people to help them out. So guys, go and get that organized. Stop letting that ego affect your business and affect it from actually moving where it needs to move to.
So, controversial topic or not? Did I hit a few nerves? If I have, I’m not going to apologize because I know at Black Belt Business we actually get rid of the ego and we just make stuff happen for business owners. Guys, get rid of it. Go and make it happen. Go and have a successful business – that’s what we’re all here for as business owners – and enjoy. And the most important thing is: have fun!
So, that’s it for me. My name is Nathan McDonald, my message is global, business is my passion, and I’m an Aussie. Have a great day guys!
